A Historic Moment for DQC

Historic Moment for Darul Qasim College

Licensed to Grant a Master’s Degree in
Islamic Law & Theology

With the Eternal Faḍl’ of Allah, and with the timeless acceptance of our great Master, Muhammad (may Allah shower His blessings on him), with the selfless effort and dedication of our board and the accreditation committee and with the invaluable support of our entire staff and patrons, we wish to share a moment of history for Muslims and non Muslims in the USA.

The Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) has awarded Darul Qasim College the license to grant a Master’s Degree in Islamic Law and Theology. Starting Fall 2026, Darul Qasim College will start offering this Master’s Degree at our Glendale Heights campus in Illinois.

This great milestone allows for the college to offer our exceptional course of study at the caliber of a state recognized degree. For those interested in applying for the Master’s in Islamic Law and Theology degree, or having questions regarding this process please email info.dqc@darulqasim.org.

As Darul Qasim embarks on this new phase in our journey towards attaining Accreditation, we would like to thank you for your support and Du’a.

Having received our license to grant our Master’s degree, we can now start working towards getting accreditation after graduating our first MA class.

A brief explanation of what getting licensed by IBHE and getting accreditation means for DQC and its students

All higher education institutions that wish to operate as a college and grant degrees in the state of Illinois must attain a license from Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) to do so.

Darul Qasim became a licensed college in June 2022. We then applied to get our Master’s degree in Islamic Law and Theology licensed as well. This we received in Nov 2025. Once a college obtains these two licenses and graduates its first cohort, it may go on to apply for accreditation from a recognized accreditation agency.

Once we receive accreditation (which may take anywhere from 2-6 years), we will be able to offer credits for the courses taken at DQC and the courses and degree will be transferable to other accredited colleges and universities. This will be extremely beneficial for our students who can then receive credits at other universities for their work done here at DQC. Likewise, courses and degrees from other universities will be transferable for credit at DQC.

For any questions regarding our licensing and accreditation status, please contact info.dqc@darulqasim.org
