Where Fiqh Meets Theology and Sufism

Darul Qasim Scholars Present Research at International Madhhab Law Conference
On Monday, September 28, Darul Qasim graduates Mawlana Hussam Bteibet, Mawlana Sayeed Siddiqui and Mawlana Adil Pathan represented Darul Qasim College at the Philosophy of Madhhab Law Conference, held at the University of Southern California. They presented their paper, “Divine Names and Legal Rulings: Towards a Jurisprudential Framework Grounded in al-Asmāʾ al-Ḥusnā,” The paper draws on scholarship in the Akbari–Waliullahi tradition and the theoretical contributions of Allamah Qasim Nanautvi (the namesake of Darul Qasim College) and Shaykh Amin Kholwadia to explore the connections between the particulars of Sharia and the Divine Names mentioned in revelation.

Held under the theme “Intersections of Fiqh, Theology, and Sufism,” the two-day conference convened one day at USC and one day at KU Leuven in Belgium. More than 50 guests took part, with presenters and attendees including professors, ulama, and graduate students across four continents. Keynote addresses were delivered by Dr. Sherman Jackson, Dr. Mariam Sheibani, and Dr. Talal al-Azem.
