Mufti Ehzaz Ajmeri grew up in the Chicago suburbs. His pursuit of higher Islamic education led him to Dār al-ʿUlūm Zakariyya in South Africa, where he spent seven years completing the rigorous ʿĀlimiyyah program. During his studies, he benefited from a number of prominent scholars, including Mufti Raḍā al-Ḥaqq, from whom he received formal authorizations (ijāzāt).

Following the completion of his ʿĀlimiyyah studies, Mufti Ehzaz pursued advanced postgraduate training in Islamic law at Madrasah Inʿāmiyyah in Camperdown, South Africa. There, he spent an additional two years specializing in iftāʾ (issuance of Islamic legal verdicts) under the guidance of the late Mufti Ebrahim Desai. Upon completing the program, he received an ijāzah in iftāʾ from Mufti Desai.

After returning to Chicago area, Mufti Ehzaz served the Muslim community in several capacities. He worked as a muftī in the Iftāʾ Department of Rahmat-e-Alam Foundation (Shariah Board of America) and served as Imam of Masjid al-Islam in Bolingbrook. He later joined DarusSalam Academy in Lombard as an instructor, where he taught a range of subjects, including intermediate and advanced fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), introductory Arabic, introductory and intermediate Urdu, the science of Hadith, introduction to the Quran; and classical logic.

Mufti Ehzaz joined the Darul Qasim College faculty in 2017 and currently serves as a lecturer in the Department of Islamic Law and as a member of the Dār al-Iftā, where he contributes to the study, research, and application of Islamic law.

In addition to his traditional Islamic education, Mufti Ehzaz holds a BA in Philosophy from Elmhurst College and a Master’s in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago.
