Starting Fall 2026, DQC will be offering a master’s degree in Islamic Law and Theology.
At this time, we will be awarding only the Islamic Law and Theology master’s degree. This degree is recognized by the State of Illinois’ Board of Education. We do have many other pre-requisite courses/programs available at the college. Please see our website for more information: Programs of Study at Darul Qasim
One must have a bachelor’s degree completed from a licensed institution and have the pre-requisite material completed before being considered for the master’s degree. More information can be found on our admissions page (darulqasimcollege.org/apply) when the enrollment window opens on February 1, 2026
No. DQC currently does not offer a bachelor’s degree, which is required for admission into the master’s program. One would need to finish the bachelor’s level at another institution and then apply for the master’s degree program at DQC.
Transfer students must hold a bachelor’s degree and complete the full assessment entrance process at DQC. Credits in Arabic for the master’s degree will be transferred, however the remaining master’s degree required courses must be completed at DQC.
Our master’s program is a one-year full time program including the summer semester. Part time students may take up to two years to complete the program.
Students applying for the master’s degree program must submit a completed enrollment application which includes submitting a copy of your bachelor’s degree, proof of residency in the US and a written essay. More relevant information will be posted on the master’s degree enrollment website page once the registration opens on February 1, 2026.
All fees and tuition costs will be listed for each program and the master’s degree on the website under the admissions tab. Specific costs for the master’s degree will be available when the enrollment window opens.
Yes, insha’Allah. We are working diligently towards offering more degrees in the future. Due to the tedious and lengthy process, we cannot give dates at this time.
This will depend on the institution you transfer to. Our master’s program is not yet accredited; therefore, the credits may not automatically transfer to another accredited institution. If the institution you are transferring to accepts the coursework as credits, since we are licensed by the state, then that will be their determination. We have had some students who were successfully able to transfer their course work to other institutions.
Once we are awarded accreditation, Insha’Allah the courses will be credit-worthy as well as transferable to other accredited institutions.
No, DQC is not yet accredited.
States, such as Illinois, require institutions who wish to operate as a college/university to obtain a license from the Board of Higher Education or IBHE. These institutions must complete the required processes for licensing and be granted approval before they are allowed to call themselves a college or be able to grant any degree.
The institution may offer programs and classes without a license from the state, but those programs and classes will NOT be credit worthy or transferable.
Once the institution has been given the license to operate as a college, they then apply for an additional license to grant degrees (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, etc.). When the state awards these additional licenses, the institution can then grant the state recognized degree(s).
The above process is required to be completed, and a cohort graduated with the licensed degree(s) to be eligible to apply for accreditation.
DQC is now at the stage where we will enroll and insha’Allah graduate our first cohort for the master’s program, after which time we will be eligible to apply for accreditation.
There are many benefits to having accreditation. Seeking licensing is the process of being eligible for accreditation. In the state of Illinois, one cannot seek accreditation without first being state licensed. The following are just a few benefits to being an accredited institution of learning:
Licensing is acquired through the State and accreditation is acquired through private and federal agencies. To learn more about accreditation click HERE
