Your Islam is determined by how much you accept the Prophet’s ﷺ authority in your life.
No one can be as close to Allahﷻ as the Prophet ﷺ.
The utmost respect given to any human being is the respect the Ṣaḥābah gave to the Prophet ﷺ. It is unparalleled.
The nabiyy makes islāh. He makes something bad, good.
In this lecture:
- the ʾadab (proper etiquette) of being around the Messenger ﷺ
- the mindset of a Muslim
- the event that brought down the second verse, a proof of the obedience of the Ṣaḥābah
- the civilizational value of ʾadab for leadership
- commentary on ʾadab with the Qurʾān, the masjid, the fast
- iḥsān (proficiency) over ʿadl (adequacy)
- The word ḥujurāt comes from the meaning of a private room or chamber where a couple lives. This is about how the private chambers of the Prophet ﷺ should be honored with the right ʾadab.
- Our Islam is determined by how much authority and love we see of the Prophet ﷺ in our lives.
- The Ṣaḥābah wouldn’t dare walk in front of the Prophet ﷺ. We can’t assume we can surpass the Prophet ﷺ spiritually. ʿUlamāʾ say we shouldn’t say we wish were there at the time of the Prophet ﷺ. Maybe we can’t keep that level of ʾadab and would be in trouble.
- We shouldn’t limit the Prophet ﷺ to his being a human (with his different roles) because he has waḥy (revelation). The Muslim mindset is to concede to the authority of Allah and Prophet ﷺ over us.
- If we don’t hold Qurʾān with ʾadab (i.e.: wuḍūʾ, etc.) this leads to disrespect. These are shaʿāʿir (rites) of Allah ﷻ.
