Shaykh Amin starts with a brief overview of the thinking that led the Prophet ﷺ and his companions to choose Friday as the day of congregation for Muslims. The Shaykh shares insight into the emphasis laid on the remembrance of death as a collective exercise for the believers, and on the purpose of the day of Jumuʿah as implied by the verses of this chapter. “When the ‘Khatīb’ (orator) is on the ‘minbar’ (pulpit), you must leave the ‘dunyā’ (attachment of the worldly life), collectively.”
